Hobby Stock Points Leader Melissa Myers Wins Again, Colton Slack Dominates Wingless Sprints

(6/17) Antioch, Ca – Melissa Myers started on the outside pole of the 15 car Feature for the All Star Hobby Stocks, and collected another checkered flag on her way to Victory Lane as the 2012 All Star Racing Series Points Leader.

Myers had to outlast the #18 car of Megan Ponciano, and the #04 of Dan Smith. Smith started near the front but an early spin took him to the rear of the field where teammate Kimo Oreta also had trouble one lap later. Kimo hit the wall hard in turn four sending his car airborne, but the team got the car back together and he joined the rest of the field before the next green flag. Kimo finished strong, but Smith certainly drove through the field to finish with a solid third place. Patti Ryland came off last weeks momentum of a Heat Win, Trophy Dash Win and a Feature Win to drive to another Heat and Trophy Dash win before settling with a solid finish in the Feature Main. The All Star Hobby Stocks are one of the premier divisions at Antioch Speedway and the 2012 Points Standings are really heating up!

Speaking of heating up, The Wingless Sprints Feature was dominated by the youngster Colton Slack from start to finish. Several restarts with multiple caution flags, Colton led from lap one to the finish, and cruised to Victory Lane. Slack couldn’t be touched! Points Leader D.J. Johnson had trouble a few times while driving hard with Gary Nelson Jr. and Chris Magoon. Johnson finished second, Nelson Jr finished third.

The Super Stocks are already racing for every position, every lap as their 2012 Points Standings couldn’t be any tighter. Larry Damitz walked away from Mike Gustafason leading 19 of 20 laps and taking the checkered flag. Gustafason finished second, Freddy Ryland finished third, and Jim Freethy finished fourth. This race for the Track Championship is far from over.. by any means.

Danny Wagner took the Feature Main in the Mini Trux as Pete Paulson finished second place. Jessica Jones finished third. Paulson also took the win in the Trophy Dash earlier in the evening. Phil McClellend and his #99 car took the Feature Win in the All Star Four Bangers as Nicole Crawford finished second once more. Carlos Gonzalez finished third. The All Star Dirt Modified Feature was marred with a lot of caution flags and spin outs. Troy Foulger spread the points lead as he won for the third time this season over Scott Busby, Sean O’Gara, Anthony Slaney and Raymond Lindeman.
